English Lenguaje Challenges

I feel like it was a very interactive course, unlike what I was used to.

English classes usually focus on theoretical aspects, taught by memory structures for each use of time in english, but here in classes we talk about different topics, such as contingency, daily living or social issues.I think this is much closer to the language we are going to need. Practice is everything and here we were able to develop that aspect.

The use of blog helped me in writing, I could see that I knew a little more than what I thought and over time it became faster and easier to write in english

I think I could improve my level by learning to leave the comfort zone in English, that is, occupying other verb tenses apart from the present, at least in writing

In my day to day I hardly occupy English, beyond watching movies or series that sometimes come without subtitles. But I think that in cases of talking with someone I could develop better than before

Post-Graduate Studies

I would like to study something related to art history or documentary film. I have always had interest in that area, since I was a child I started to research the subject and learn different artistic disciplines.

I would like to continue studying but in Barcelona. I have a sister who lives there five years ago who was also studying. She is in the area of literature, and frequently linked with the world of the arts so she could help me to get in little by little when I need to look for projects or jobs in that area.

On the other hand, it is much more economical to do a magister or any type of postgraduate degree in Barcelona than in Chile, I could study, work and maintain myself well with the help of scholarships.

I am more comfortable with the format of face-to-face studies because I consider it more enriching. The dialogue, the feedback with teachers and classmates is essential for me.

CHANGES TO MY STUDY PROGRAMME

I believe that the career of journalism has many deficiencies. When I enter the first year, a teacher who is the father of one of my best friends warned me that the career should not last more than three years according to the content that is delivered, but that was lengthened to have professional career status and not technical

I very much agree with him. There are many contents that are repeated year after year lengthening the semesters and, on the other hand, many shortcomings, this happens in the theoretical bases that they give us. I think it is essential for the journalist to have a good base in many aspects that the carrer doesn´t impart like history, economy, philosophy, sociology and anthropology. I think it would be really good in we had at least the tree first years studying in a deep way those subjects.

As for the technical branches, I believe that it is covered and has more relation with the interest and effort that we put into learning. The problem in that aspect is is the lack of equipment like cameras or microphones when final deliveries are approaching for each career.

In conclusion, from my experience in the career of journalism I think that a great restructuration is needed where more branches are included, such as those I mentioned and more organization for the technological equipment that the ICEI has.
